Hope all is well out there with you all in Internet Land
I’m writing this now to speak to you about 2 things:
One being my recent decision to move on from Micro 4/3rd Photography, and the other my experience with the Fuji XPro-1
Yes I’ve moved on from the Panasonic Lumix GX7 and the system i had put together
Not long ago I was fortunate enough to have saved enough $$$ for something I’ve been planning on doing for a long while.
A trip down to the “Big Easy” New Orleans, Louisiana!!
Once I felt comfortable with funds 🙂 I went forward and made reservations for the flight and hotel stay
Now, this trip was not just for vacation, but also to spend some time solely dedicated to photography.
During my planning for the trip, a couple things went through my mind..
Recently I had the opportunity to purchase a used Leica M8 for a reasonable price..well…reasonable by Leica body standards, and in pretty good condition too!
I had never shot a digital rangefinder before, I mean aside from a quick tryout at a photo store I pass by frequently, so I decided to purchase this cam and add to the collection
I am very excited to put this camera through my regular “street walks exercise” that i usually do with my film cameras most of the time.
Now as many of you know, this was Leicas first attempt at delving into the digital market..so it had its fair share of issues.
Recently tensions around the country, and some parts of the world, have run high since the decisions not to indict the officers involved in the deaths of Mike Brown and Eric Garner were announced
New York, as always, has become a hotbed of protests and activism with many people from different walks of life joining together to stand up against what they believe to be a corrupt judicial and political system.
Of course you know I JUST HAD TO BE THERE FOR THAT
I came armed with the Fujifilm X100s by my side and wanted to tell the story, through pictures, of my experiences there.
Hope all is well.
For those that have been paying attention to some of my blog posts, you know that alongside my time as a photographer i also moonlight as a musician 😉
I’m also a huge fan of some of my friend’s musical projects, i often ask them to let me be a “fly on the wall” and take pics and videos to document the process of their creations.
Recently, i took a trip to the studio and met up with my good friend/family Raul aka “Just Putt” and my boy, Felix, who also heads Z3Music
I decided to take along my Sony A7R with Canon FD 50mm F1.8 (used with adapter) and chill with the crew
I Recently had an opportunity to photograph a GREAT event for an organization that i’m a proud member of, the Anti-Injustice Movement
This event occurred in Brooklyn, NYC. At an area that had some of the most AMAZING graffiti i’ve ever seen up close
I was captivated just walking around and looking at all of the great artwork on the walls and streets.
When i was first asked to bring along some equipment, i had to think about how i wanted to shoot and what i wanted to shoot.
Now i must admit, i haven’t heard of Chris Weeks before or actually seen any of his work (besides the photos shown in this documentary) but after watching this i see he definitely has the spirit of a Street Photographer.
I’m not sure how i missed this documentary actually, it looks like it came out a while back.
With all of my searching for info of Street Photography on the net, i would think i would’ve found this sooner.
Recently I had the chance to try a camera system many people have been talking about since it was released to the public, the one used by the Sony A7/A7r and the latest A7s.
If you’re a photo-geek like me, i’m sure you’ve heard about it lol
Seems like some people think of it as a great crowning achievement by Sony, while others think it’s a great attempt that fell short…especially the A7r with rumors of a “shutter shake” rampant all over the interwebs.
I myself haven’t seen any evidence of this yet, but then again i haven’t had much time to fully test how all of the functions of the camera perform.
I’m not going to pretend like I’m some great photographer with this grand knowledge of how each camera should work, whether digital or film.
What I can do is tell you how I felt using it, and show you some of the results of my work and passion towards being a better photographer with each medium in my hands at the time. With that being said, i’ll now continue..
Hello everyone, hope everything is going good 🙂
Recently, i was contacted by a good friend to do a photo shoot showcasing Yoga and it’s beauty.
I think i would be doing her and Yoga as a whole a disservice if i didn’t put some info on exactly what Yoga is so you will be seeing some info about Yoga in between a number of the images posted.
My apologies for not writing in a bit but been super busy with work and moving to new apartment.
Fortunately tho in the middle of all this insanity, i did have enough free time to do a quick shoot with my sister’s boyfriend.
He had been asking for some help with some shots for flyers and business cards for a long time and my sister called to see if i was available.
He is a pretty famous Club DJ named DJ JR Salsero
